Moscow State University is considered to be the oldest Russian university by right by far. It was founded in 1755. The founding of the university in Moscow became possible due to the work of the first Russian academician, Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov, a well-known scientist and scholar- Encyclopaedist.
Now, Moscow State University is one of the leading centers of national education, science, and culture. In search of scientific truth, the university is founded upon ideals of good, justice, and freedom. All of these ideals are implemented and seen in the every day life and actions of the university.
In September of 2008, the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation about academic independence for the university, the right to establish educational standards, was authorized.

Saint Petersburg State University, founded in 1724, is the oldest institute of higher education in Russia. It also has solidified the right to be called one of the best institutes of higher education in Russia during its 290 years of existence. Its rich historic past, modern wide research work, active development, and innovation allow SPbGU to be at advanced boundaries of Russian science.
The Decree of Peter the Great about founding the university in Saint Petersburg was approved by the Senate of the Russian Empire on 24 January 1724.
During its almost 300-year history, Saint Petersburg State University has educated and helped thousands of young men in life. Many of these made outstanding contribution to the advancement of science, culture, and society of not only Russia, but also the whole world. They made their names famous, and thereby, the name of their Alma Mater. The names of the great scientists – Lomonosov, Mendeleev, Pavlov, Gumilev – are connected with the university. Putin graduated from Leningrad State University (now it’s Saint Petersburg State University) in 1975.
Novosibirsk State University was founded by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on 9th January 1958 6 months after the decision about the foundation of the Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
The university has built and developed, along with the Novosibirsk Scientific Center, heading for the training of highly qualified specialists for science and education. Among Novosibirsk State University graduates are laureates of prestigious international awards and prizes (the Fields Medal, the Award of the European Physical Society).

The Far Eastern State Academy of Art is an institute of higher education, located in Vladivostok. By the Decree of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic on 14th January 1962 № 151, the Far Eastern teacher’s training Institute of Arts was founded – the first Russian institute of higher education united three types of art – music, theatre and painting. This feature gives students a broad cultural outlook, helps to develop a sensitivity to art, and gain an understanding of different areas of creativity. The atmosphere of united creative search during education and an opportunity to see each other’s achievements allow students to avoid narrow-professional closure. Alumni can materialise their creative potential as soloists, choir men, orchestral players, scene-painters etc.
Kazan State Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev was founded in 1932. The university gives young people an opportunity to get full modern education, which allows them to be confident in the near future regardless of actual state of affairs. The basis of confidence in the future is the fundamentality of knowledge that students get, the most perspective technical and liberal majors, and advanced aerospace technologies. In recent years the geography of the university’s connections with not only aerospace and defence enterprises, but also with medical institutions, home appliances, motor transport, telecommunication and other fields of national economy service establishments, has been expanded.
